Bu Martin Landi
As a Senior Technical Advisor, Martin Landi brings to IREX over 15 years of experience in international development, both in international organizations and in the private sector with work focused on media, governance, elections and political transitions. Martin is experienced in leading operations in complex emergencies and fragile states and has performed extensive work with governments, media, and civil society on five continents. He joined IREX in February 2016 as acting Director of the SAFE project, providing assistance to journalists and human rights defenders on several continents. Martin started his international career at the United Nations system in New York headquarters in 1998 and continued on multiple long-term missions in Afghanistan, East Timor, Nepal, Haiti, Pakistan, and Argentina. As regional director for Latin America with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Martin worked in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua in 2009.
Tara Susman-Peña is senior technical advisor in IREX’s Center for Applied Learning and Impact and in the Information & Media practice. She specializes in the role of information, media, and innovation in governance, development, and resilience, and has published extensively in these areas. She recently led the development of IREX’s new Vibrant Information Approach. Her experience includes strategic planning, learning, human-centered research and design, impact, evaluation, and international development policy.
Lee Ann Grim
Lee Ann Grim is a program officer at IREX, working primarily for the SAFE Initiative, which delivers integrated safety trainings to journalists and media outlets. She also provides project and editorial support to the Media Sustainability Index, a publication that analyzes the conditions for independent media across Europe and Eurasia. Prior to joining IREX, Lee Ann worked as a consultant for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice, supporting program operations and process improvement. Lee Ann also served as a Colombia delegation coordinator at Witness for Peace and as an AmeriCorps member, where she organized an after-school tutoring program for young refugees of the conflict in Burundi. rundi.
